Beavers ponds store water that could be lost otherwise

Methow Beaver Project team members release a beaver in a high mountain meadow that has since become a new beaver colony site that holds millions of gallons of water.

A project in the Methow Valley, Oregon is reintroducing beavers to upper reaches of the Methow watershed. With global warming Oregon anticipates less water will be stored as snow, and more will run run off as liquid water. Beaver created ponds slow the discharge, and store water for use behind beaver dams. Please see the full story below from the Methow Valley News Online.
