Gary Hengst’s Bio
Gary’s first work experience was on the family farm but he chose a different career path. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Gary began work in a large industrial food processing lab. After a couple years in this industry he moved to Auburn in 1994 where he managed a candle manufacturing facility for about 7 years. When this industry began to fail due to low cost imports, Gary was given an opportunity to pursue a new career in the wastewater field. His management background and education propelled him quickly in this field. After a couple years at other wastewater plants in the area, Gary was hired to run the old Lincoln wastewater plant and start up the new wastewater plant here in Lincoln. By 2005 Gary had become the Chief Plant Operator at the Lincoln wastewater plant but left in 2010 to run other wastewater systems for both Placer County and later the City of Tulsa Oklahoma. Gary was pleased to return in the Fall of 2015 to resume his leadership role at the Lincoln Wastewater Plant and start up the Midwestern Placer County Regional Pipeline system. He resides in the City of Lincoln with his wife and four kids.
