Steve Hubbard, Gold Country Images, “The Dam That Never Was: How the 50 year struggle over the Auburn Dam changed history.”

Steve Hubbard is a local photojournalist and film maker specializing in historical and environmental issues in the Sierra Nevada. His films “Power to the People” and “Saving Auburn Ravine” were selections at the Wild and Scenic Film Festivals. Steve also teaches Documentary Film Making at Sierra College.
His articles have appeared in a number of publications, and he is the author of “Powerhouses of the Sierra Nevada,” which details the development of hydro power by gold rush era entrepreneurs like Lester Pelton. He is currently working on a feature length documentary about the Auburn Dam, titled “The Dam That Never Was.”
Prior to his current pursuits, he served in executive positions in a number of technology related startup companies in Silicon Valley. He was a founder and CEO of NetStream, a fiber optic telecommunications company. His website is goldcountryimages.com.
