SARSAS Citizen Science releases report on water quality in the Auburn Ravine for 2016 water year
For the past year, a group of volunteers, led by Bob Johnson, has monitored the water quality in Auburn Ravine. They sampled the water at five different points: Auburn Ravine Park in Lincoln (Dog Park), McBean Park, Hemphill Dam, Newcastle, and the confluence of North Ravine. Their results confirm that the water temperature stayed within a suitable range for salmon during the spawning season. With protection Auburn Ravine can be prime salmon habitat. The removal of Hemphill Dam will open up further salmon habitat up to and beyond the city of Auburn. The full report is available here on the SARSAS website.
