North Ravine Restoration
Restoring the largest tributary of Auburn Ravine for endangered steelhead.
Where shade exists, fish persist
North Ravine is the largest tributary of Auburn Ravine. SARSAS is working to restore its four-mile length as habitat for endangered steelhead.
Coordinator Robert Hane, working with Damion Ciotti of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is removing invasive plants such as Himalayan blackberry and planting dogwood and redwood trees. Volunteers from Sierra Native Alliance and the California Conservation Corps, along with many landowners on North Ravine, including the Taylor Family, owners of Mt. Vernon Winery, are helping, but more help is needed.
